I readily admit that my gut reaction to the price of the 3DS makes absolutely no logical sense. I understand everything you've just said about miniaturisation and new vs old and completely agree with that and find it perfectly acceptable to price new tech accordingly. Yet there's something that still leaves me vaguely disgruntled. I guess I just have to sigh and face the truth that I am turning in to a miser! Or maybe it's just because I bought a DSi XL for that price not too long before the 3DS came out (DS Lite's touchscreen had started to become seriously shonky, but it served me well!) and now I'm a little bitter that I could have got new tech instead! Though shifting back to a normal sized screen now might actually make me go blind.
Good luck with your shopping. Since Ocarina has been completely redrawn (as well as having all that 3D added) it should look pretty awesome. :)
